How to Measure Your Window

The right fit starts with the right measure. Our blinds are custom-made to your exact specifications — taking a few extra minutes to measure carefully will make all the difference.

Before You Begin

What You'll Need

Metal tape measure

Metal Tape Measure

Always use a rigid metal tape measure — it is the most accurate tool for the job. Fabric or soft tape measures can stretch under tension and give you a false reading, which may result in a blind that does not fit.

Pen and paper

Pen & Paper

Write down each measurement as you take it. Do not rely on memory, especially if you are measuring more than one window. Recording measurements clearly will help you avoid costly mistakes when placing your order.

Step stool

Step Stool

You will need to reach the top of the window recess to measure accurately. Use a stable step stool and take your time — rushing this step is one of the most common causes of measurement errors.

Important

Recess Fit means the blind is installed inside the window recess for a clean, integrated look. Measure the full width and height of the recess (window opening).

  • Do not make any deductions — we adjust sizes during production for a perfect fit.
  • Double-check your measurements before ordering.
  • Use a metal tape measure for best accuracy.
  • Enter all sizes in millimetres (mm).
Step 1 — Width Measuring recess width

Measure the inside width of the recess from the left inner edge to the right inner edge. Take this measurement at three points — the top, the middle, and the bottom. Use the smallest of the three measurements.

Step 2 — Drop Measuring recess drop

Measure the height inside the recess from the top inner edge to the bottom inner edge. Take this measurement at three points — down the left side, the centre, and the right side. Use the smallest of the three measurements.

Pro Tips
  • Ensure the window recess is deep enough to fit the blind.
  • Check for obstructions such as handles or tiles.
  • Always measure inside the recess, not the frame.
  • Suitable for wooden blinds and aluminium Venetian blinds.
Important

Exact Fit (Outside Recess) means the blind is installed outside the window recess to cover the window area. Measure the width and drop you want to cover.

  • No deductions are made — the blind is made to your exact measurements.
  • If replacing an existing blind, measure it including the fittings.
  • Double-check measurements before ordering.
  • Enter all sizes in millimetres (mm).
Step 1 — Width Measuring exact fit width

Measure the full width of the area you would like the blind to cover. Decide how much overlap you want on each side of the recess and include this in your measurement.

Step 2 — Drop Measuring exact fit drop

Measure from the top fixing point down to where you would like the blind to finish. Record the full height you want the blind to cover.

Pro Tips
  • Allow the blind to overlap the recess by at least 70 mm at the top and 50 mm on each side, to reduce light leakage.
  • The bottom overlap depends on obstacles such as radiators, handles, or window sills.
  • Make sure there is enough space above the window to install the blind.
  • Suitable for wooden blinds and aluminium Venetian blinds.
